2024 Adopt-A-Beach
This program was formed in 2023 to assist with oversight of South Beach. We are looking for families to adopt South Beach for one week in the spring or fall. Responsibilities include checking the area for damage, ensuring goose fencing is up, moving the recycle bin to the curb and emptying the garbage cans into the dumpster. The time commitment is minimal.
Weeks run Sunday through Saturday, May 19 – October 27. If a week isn’t selectable another volunteer has registered for that week.
Listed below are the items that need your attention:
- Tuesday: Pick up all loose garbage and recycling and place in the designated containers by the information sign near the main gate. Empty bag from garbage can(s) and place in dumpster in the fenced area for Wednesday trash pick up. Additional trash bags are in the gray Adopt-a-Beach storage bin near the shed. (You do NOT need to move the dumpster to the curb. They pick it up from the fenced area.)
- Wednesday: Move wheeled recycling container to the curb outside the main gate for Thursday pick up.
- Thursday: Return the recycling container to its place inside the main gate.
- Throughout the Week:
- Make sure geese fencing at the three boat launches and swimming area is in good working order. (3 boat launches: near the playground; near fishing pier; near east side boat storage
- A small gap in the fencing is enough room for the geese to use our beach as a litter box
- Make sure beach toys are placed in the large storage bin
- Make sure both emergency gates (near basketball court and near playground) and the main gate are closed and latched.
- Please check for any damage to equipment like benches, swings, piers, playground and report any damage to our management company (llpoa@pineapplebrand.com | (224) 360-0301).
- Walk the entire beach, not just the swim area and look for harmful algae blooms (blue-green algae) in the water. Refer to HAB photos in the adopt-a-beach binder. If you see or suspect HABs are present please report it to the LLPOA Board at LLPOABoard@lochlomondlake.com and the management company at (llpoa@pineapplebrand.com | (224) 360-0301) .
- Initial and date the online volunteer schedule at the completion of your week.
- Last but not least, take some time to enjoy the beach area and the beautiful view of our lake.
If you have any questions, please contact Erich Schwenk at llpoa@pineapplebrand.com
THANK YOU!!
