1. Lake status update –
   1. So far this year we have removed 266 trailer loads of weeds from our lake with 3 weeks left to go. Last year, 288 trailer loads were removed.
   2. Geese are starting their fall migration. All lakefront homeowners should ensure their shoreline geese deterrents are in place. Some people removed them during the summer when we had zero geese on the lake. The pond on the southeast side of Route 45 and Winchester Road had 40 geese in it this week. Small remote control boats are great at chasing the geese off our lake.
   3. The lake water is starting to clear along the shoreline earlier this year than the last 2 years. This is a good sign for us.
   4. The last lake visit from the Lake County Health Ecological Services unit was last week. Their initial feedback is that our lake is in good shape and showing signs of improvement. They will be providing us with a full lake report this fall. We will use their report along with the data collected by Gerry and Doug to evaluate our progress and adjust our lake management plan.
   5. 3 geese lights were replaced and repositioned last week. Thank you Marty.
   6. The water circulator for North Beach will be installed next week. The increased water movement at North Beach will help reduce the weed and algae growth along the shoreline there.
   7. Managing the weed growth in the swim areas at the beaches as well as along homeowners shorelines was discussed. We are looking for ideas on how to deal with this for next year.
2. Stormwater Management Commission/Water Management Board  (SMC/WMB) grant update – Roger, Kevin and Tom are working on a grant submission for the spillway repairs at the dam along with the shoreline stabilization on the east shoreline at South Beach. We have attended a couple informational meetings with SMC/WMB and submitted a rough draft of our proposal for feedback from them. The full application is due September 27.
3. Park District beaver dam update – This week the Park District was releasing water from behind the upstream beaver dam in the Long Meadow subdivision in preparation for installing a fix to prevent the water buildup behind the dam. We monitored the increased water flow into our lake at the North Beach spillway. We appreciate the collaboration of the Park District in dealing with
   this issue.
4. Paul reviewed an idea he has for installing silt traps under the streets near our major inlets. This would reduce the amount of silt flowing into our lake. He is meeting with Mundelein Public Works next week to discuss this idea and get their feedback.
5. Mark your calendars for:
   1. The Fall Beach Cleanup on Saturday October 10 at 9:00 AM. We will be doing fall maintenance tasks at both North and South Beach this year. We will publish a list of tasks ahead of time so if you can’t make it and want to contribute you can pick a task and complete it on your schedule.
   2. The LLPOA Annual Meeting will be held on Saturday November 14 at 3:00 PM at Mechanics Grove School. We’d love to have a quorum of homeowners for the 3rd consecutive year. If you can not attend in person make sure you fill out a proxy ballot ahead of time and give it to a neighbor or board member. More information to come on this important meeting.Upcoming dates
