LLPOA LAKE MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE UPDATE

April 14, 2026

inform & educate residents; develop sustainable lake management solutions

  1. Geese – 1 nesting pair of geese have been identified in North Bay. They have a nest on one of the floating islands. Paul and I addled the 4 eggs in the nest. Addling will hopefully prevent the eggs from becoming goslings. We will
monitor this nest over the next few weeks. No other nesting pair has been identified. I do have a permit from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service for this. It includes reporting how many nests and eggs we find. Eight of the ten geese lights have been replaced and repositioned back to their proper locations. Thanks to Captain Marty for helping with this. We are still looking into deterrents for the South Beach swim area for the summer.
  2. Water circulators – The consensus of the committee is to continue with the plan to add water circulators at both beaches this summer. We are targeting the South Beach cleanup to install the circulator at South Beach. North Beach will follow after that. We have received bids for the installation of electrical for the circulators and it will be on the agenda for next week’s board meeting.
  3. Biodredge – We are waiting on updated pricing for biodredge material including an option again for homeowners to purchase a pail or two for their shoreline. Look for information on this soon.
  4. South Beach cleanup – Mark your calendars for Saturday May 16 9:00 AM for the South Beach cleanup. We will need volunteers for the various tasks and task coordinators. No experience necessary. Just a willingness to help keep our beaches maintained and ready for the summer. More details to come.
  5. Silt traps – Paul is continuing to research silt trap options for some of our inlets.
  6. Dam maintenance – Roger and Kevin are researching a grant opportunity with Stormwater Management to help with the maintenance work needed for our dam. Paul is meeting with the engineer who prepared the dam report to get further clarification on the necessary work.
  7. Tony Baade Fishing Tournament – Pizza Bill volunteered to run the tournament this year. Anyone interested in helping him out and learning how easy it is to run the tournament can let me know. The tournament is Saturday
June 20 from 9:00 to Noon.
  8. Loch Lomond road replacement – The village is currently planning on replacing Dunbar, Killarney Pass and Killarney Pass Circle this summer. Paul agreed to meet with the appropriate village officials to gather more information on how this will impact our lake especially during the construction phase. If you are wondering about the removal of trees for this project, if you see a tree with red X or other red marking that indicates that tree is planned to be removed.
