LLPOA LAKE MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE UPDATE

September 24, 2024

inform & educate residents; develop sustainable lake management solutions

  1. We reviewed the results of the 2024 season.

    • Early spring spray for the invasive curly leaf weed worked well

    • Floating islands are thriving but need some plants replaced in the spring

    • Geese deterrents continue to work with less geese again this year, no geese after the goslings could fly

    • Biodredging continued to show results in reducing the soft silt layer

    • New circulator at South Beach improved the water quality in the swim area

    • Weed harvesting was increased as we progressed throughout the summer to address the amount of weed growth we experienced as we had trouble staying ahead of the weeds in certain areas of the lake

    • We experienced less algae growth and algal blooms this year

    • We experienced lower e.coli readings at South Beach this year including no beach closures due to high e.coli test results

  2. We reviewed the 2024 lake management expenditures and discussed plans and costs for next year. The summary is listed below. All line items were voted on individually by the group.
