October 2022 Lake Management Report

The Lake Management Committee completed a budget plan for 2023 activities and submitted
the plan to the board. The plan includes several initiatives aimed at improving the quality of our
lake which includes bio dredging, floating islands, aerators, native plant buffer strips, inlet bank
stabilization and waterfowl deterrents. Speaking about waterfowl deterrents, it is migration
season for geese. Please help us deter the geese from our lake by keeping the geese fencing
up at both beaches and if you live on the lake by adding or enhancing your shoreline buffer
strips or geese fencing. Geese have a negative impact on our lake’s water quality. Deterring
them from our lake is the easiest and least costly thing we can do to improve our lake water
quality.

McClould Aquatics applied bio dredging material to a few areas in the lake with the highest silt
buildup. We will be monitoring the progress of this pilot effort to determine its effectiveness.
The committee will meet 1 more time this year on October 24 at 7:00 PM at the Fremont Library.
All residents are welcome and encouraged to attend. As always, the committee’s goal is to
inform and educate the community about our lake and develop and maintain a sustainable lake
management plan.
