Update: Current beach policy

After speaking with the Lake County Health Department, legal council, and the Mundelein Police, it is in the best interests of our Association to close the water to swimming until further notice.

There will be no lifeguards on duty at the beach due to the water being closed. Only residents 16 years or older can come to the beach without an adult.

  • Residents are expected to practice social distancing.
  • No large gatherings will be permitted until the next phase of the governor’s plan.
  • The playground is closed.
  • There is no fishing from the swimming pier due to safety concerns.
  • The boat launch, fishing pier, sand area, and grass areas will remain open.

Please bring your beach tags and keycard if you come to use the area. A gate guard will safely check you in. We will continue to follow health department guidelines, as well as the governor’s orders, and keep you informed.

Let’s all enjoy the holiday weekend while also protecting everyone’s health and safety. We wish you and your family a lovely Memorial Day.

We hope to reopen our swimming area when it’s safe and appropriate to do so.

Weed management and control

This winter was the perfect storm for curly leaf growth in our lake. We experienced warmer temperatures, sunny days and little ice formation. Even our ice fisherman noticed curly leaf early on. Considering this information, we contacted McCloud Aquatics to service our lake as soon as the ice melted to provide the first chemical treatment. This year we are using a product called Sonar 1, a pelletized, slow release granular treatment to combat the prolific and difficult to control curly leaf and coontail. It is an aquatic herbicide that is safe for humans and animals. We have made two applications, and the chemical will be actively killing off weeds in the aquatic environment for about 30 to 45 days. As everyone has noticed the product is working and there are floating weeds on the lake. We are currently removing the weeds from the lake and will be doing so for the next month as we see fit. The combination of Sonar 1 and physical weed removal will make the lake a great place for recreation such as swimming, fishing, and boating. If you have any questions, please reach out to Lake Management Director Steve Shiley by email.

Reminder: If you have not done so, you can still pay 2020 dues through Mperial’s online resident portal.

LochFest 2020 cancelled

With great disappointment, the LLPOA board has made the decision to cancel summer events, including the annual LochFest celebration. We know our entire community looks forward to coming together each year to enjoy the company of neighbors and family, and to celebrate our greatest resource: our lake. We plan to bring the festival back to our beach again next year. Thank you for understanding.
